September 12, 2018               FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Batavia, NY)...The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Sprint Car Series powered by Pace Performance will head to Genesee Speedway this weekend for the first time ever.  The inaugural "Empire State Classic" will join up in a perfect pairing with Genesee's second annual "Topless Nationals" featuring a complete Bonnell's Rod Shop Weekly Series special event both Saturday and Sunday (September 15-16).  The RUSH Late Models will also be competing in a Sweeney Weekly Series special event each day.  Race time is 4 p.m. both days.

For the first time in nine years, Sprint Cars will return to the 1/3-mile Genesee County Fairground oval located in Batavia, NY!  Genesee will mark the 10th different speedway in four different states to host a RUSH Sprint Car event in 2018.  Twenty events have been completed to date.  Both Saturday and Sunday will pay $800 to-win, $160 to-start.  All competing racers on Saturday will receive a complimentary pit pass from Pace Performance.

RUSH has posted a $300 cash bonus to the driver that accumulates the most points over the two days (provided both events are completed).  Tiebreaker is the driver that has the best finish; otherwise the $300 will be split amongst the tied drivers.

The "Pedal Down" Hard Charger each night will receive $100 cash.  Saturday's sponsor is Jennerstown Engine Technologies and Sunday's sponsor is 955 Automotive!  Both Jimmy Friedline and Jason Ore are two longtime RUSH Authorized Engine Rebuilders.  RUSH thanks them for making this weekend even bigger.  If more than one driver has passed the same amount of cars, the tiebreaker is the driver that had the best finishing position.

"We really have to thank Genesee Speedway promoter Jim Johnson for the opportunity to bring the RUSH Sprint Cars to his speedway," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig.  "Genesee has been a strong partner of RUSH via our Late Model division over the past few seasons and when I approached Jim about the possibility of introducing the RUSH brand of Sprint Car racing to western and central New York at his big season ending event he was more than receptive."

"Since the initial announcement about the RUSH Sprint Car division we immediately received and continue to receive calls from interested parties in the New York area," added Emig.  "We feel this will be a perfect opportunity to set the stage for possible expansion throughout the New York region in 2019 offering racers a true 'cost containment' Sprint Car package that is already proving to be a very successful concept in our immediate region."

The 2017 "Topless Nationals", headlined by the RUSH Late Models along with Genesee's Sportsman Modifieds running without their roofs, was considered to be one of the biggest events in the history of the speedway.  The joining of the non-wing RUSH Sprint Cars will make this an even bigger event and bring an entirely new group of fans, and as was stated, it's been nine years since full-size Sprint Cars competed at Genesee!

Pit passes go on sale both days at 2 p.m.  Sprint engine starts are at approximately 3 p.m. followed by warm-ups at 3:30 and racing at 4.  One-way driver radios are mandatory with the 454.000 channel.  Genesee uses the AMB/MyLaps transponders.

Genesee Speedway is located off Route 5 at the Genesee County Fairgrounds at 5056 E Main Street Rd, Batavia, NY 14020.  For more information, check out their website at genesee-speedway.com and like them on Facebook by searching Genesee Speedway.

Following Genesee, the RUSH Sprints will be back in action on Wednesday night (September 19) at Lernerville Speedway for the final "Wednesday Night Lightning" Series event then the following Saturday at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway.  The RUSH Sprint Cars will make their first visit to McKean County Family Raceway in East Smethport, Pa. on Saturday, September 29.  Lernerville is scheduled to conclude the season on October 12-13.
